The Everson invites 60 artists to create a work of art in 60 minutes. A big tent is put over the park next to the museum under which the artist set up their gear. There are sculptors, painters, printmakers, potters, and jewelry makers among us. A frantic hour is spent on a single piece as guests put raffle tickets in their favorite artist's bucket. At the end, a lucky winner is drawn from each bucket and that person goes home with fresh art.
Open Figure Drawing
Every Wednesday at the Westcott Community Center, Syracuse, NY
I have been attending Open Figure Drawing since it started with Johnny Robinson in 1989. Even though I can't claim to be a "regular" I have been attending on and off all these years. I participate in the group shows and special events and occasionallty will lend a hand. I had taken some figure drawing classes with Gary Trento, but I credit this group for leaving that door open for me. Drawing and painting the figure from life is among the best art making experiences I've had.

I spent a week at the Humble Hearts School for the deaf in Nairobi, Kenya. We did some blockprinting and sold greeting cards with those images as a fundraiser. Since then we have used the children's artwork and my artwork to creat holiday cards as a funsdraising tool.
